New Instructions – Moody 34 for sale

New Instructions – Moody 34 for sale

Friday, 25 January 2013

Boatshed Dartmouth are delighted to offer for sale a Moody 34. These are really excellent, nice looking centre cockpit yachts with a well laid out interior. The Moody 34 started life in 1983 and continued in production until 1986 with a total of 165 being built. Production then continued as the 346 which had an identical hull. It was clear when I went onboard this yacht that she has been thoughtfully and carefully looked after. Lines are led aft to the cockpit and several items have recently been replaced or updated. Once again I find myself wondering how a 34’ yacht can feel so big. The forward cabin is a good size but it is of course the light and spacious aft cabin that is the yachts greatest asset. Appointments to view can be booked in advance 6-days a week directly with Paul Singer your Boatshed Dartmouth and Boatshed Brixham broker.

Sealine SC38 for sale

Sealine SC38 for sale

Tuesday, 22 January 2013

Boatshed Brixham and Dartmouth are delighted to offer for sale a Sealine SC38. Stepping onboard I was immediately struck by the amount of wood that Sealine have used throughout the boat. The cockpit is very well laid out with more than enough seating and this is good comfortable seating too. All too often seats seem to be an after thought on boats not really taking into account just how the area will be used. In this case you can sit with friends, talk and watch the BBQ at the same time. The engine bay is easily accessed and stepping down into the engine bay it is really easy to access the major items. The twin 300hp D4 will whip you along at a satisfying 34 knots. As you might imagine for a boat of this age it is immaculate in the engine bay. However, it’s below decks in the main saloon and galley area that really sets this boat apart. The large overhead skylight floods the saloon with light and there are also large rectangular ports to let even more light in. The woodwork below is washed walnut and the cabin doors have that satisfying solid feel to them. In summary I can do not better than quote Motor Boat Monthly whose verdict was –“Sealine's SC series is officially the most exciting thing to happen to sportscruisers in years.” Appointments to view can be booked in advance 6-days a week directly with Paul Singer your Boatshed Dartmouth broker.

The Deben Bar is a place I have loved and embraced over the years. I learned to fear, respect and then relish the steep standing waves. Such was my initiation into the world of dinghy sailing. With time, and after a few watery mishaps it became clear that all you had to do was to keep the mast pointing at the sky and steer straight down the face of them. So long as you trusted she would float the boat would do the rest. Fireflies are not fast dinghies, but they have the advantage of providing all the thrills of speed, but going nowhere.

Designed by David Sadler and built by Jeremy Rodgers Ltd, this beautiful second hand yacht has recently been reduced in price. It is probably the most successful one-design cruiser-racer of all time and is seaworthy enough for offshore sailing in extreme weather conditions.

Boatshed Newport C&C 38 Racer/ Cruiser

Boatshed Newport C&C 38 Racer/ Cruiser

Sunday, 13 January 2013

This is International Yacht Brokers Boatshed Newport present this very sweet 1976 C & C 38' Sloop for sale. She is a racer/cruiser with a fin keel and keel stepped mast with rod rigging and double spreaders. In 2009 she went through a $40k refit to include the newly installed following: Mast, Rod Rigging, Head Stay & Harken Roller Furler, Life Lines, Edson Pedestal w/ new quadrant chain & cable assembly, Raymarine ST60 Wind System, Raymarine ST60 Depth System, and all running rigging. In 2011 the electric panel was completely rewired and new cabin lights installed. A new Thurston Dodger was installed in 2012 to match the existing sail cover. Also new are the 40" helm and Garmin GPS System. To see her full specs along with photo’s and video C & C 38' sailboats tout "No Compromise" in their brochures. This sailboat is a sleek and fast vessel built in Canada. She has been lovingly cared for by her current owners for over 30 years! With the beam just under 13' she is quite spacious both above and below deck. Her sail area is 729 square feet. She is constructed of single unit molded GP laminate hull, deck of single unit laminate cored with balsa, external lead fin ballast with a spade rudder. In the January issue of Cruising World, the C & C 33' 101 was voted Domestic Boat of the Year and Best Performance Cruiser, 30 to 39 feet. As you can see, the older C & C 38' is in good company with her newer counterparts. C & C is renowned for quality construction and materials. These sailboats are truly known as both racers and cruisers with spectacular sailing quality and top shelf performance for cruising the coastline. For complete specifications, 60+ photos and video, on this boat or any of our other boats please visit our website. She is a show stopper for her age after going through a refit so don't hesitate to call me if you like what you see.

Go Green: Be a #Sailor

Go Green: Be a #Sailor

Thursday, 10 January 2013

If you love Moody, Bavaria, Jeanneau or Beneteau sail boats then this love affair could be doing the world an ecological favour. If your boat is powered by wind energy you can be proud that your boating is an earth-friendly eco-activity. You will of course use fuel when there is no wind, when heading into the wind or when navigating narrow channels but your sail boat will use far less fuel than a powerboat.

Home to Scotland after 50 years.

Back in 1946 boat builders J&G Forbes of Sandhaven in Scotland built a sturdy 53’ fishing vessel named Capella. She was taken south to work the fishing grounds off the Devon and Cornish coasts. Many years later she was converted to a SCUBA diving vessel but when the business fell on hard times she was purchased by a new owner in 1994 who fell in love with her and decided to spend the next few years and quite a few pennies restoring and converting her to a lovely live-aboard motor cruiser, now named McAlister.
