The purpose of the yellow foot is simply to depict the right foot.
The oil workers can just wear their own footwear for transportation so it can be trainers or boots.

Industry recommends that you wear 3 layers of thermals in winter months and 2 layers in the summer.

The thermal liner is the big sell with the suit as it is designed to store the bodies temperature in warmer climates, relieving the wearer of heat stress. Then if required in a ditching, it will release the heat back into the body upon cold water immersion.

Another feature for the wearers is the hyperstretch neoprene seals. They are a lot more comfortable for the wearer compared to the latex seals and standard neoprene. They can be rolled down for extra comfort to the wearer.

The purpose of the valves is to expulse excess air from the suit. This reduces the buoyancy of the suit and avoids too much air gathering at the feet area of the suit which could make it hard to stay upright in the water. The buoyancy that anyone wearing the suits should get is from the Life jacket only once it is inflated.
