Born in Salem, Oregon, Dave Carleson has loved boats his whole life. Boating was a family thing, making family trips to the coast and renting rowboats on the Siletz River from a very young age. When Dave was older, he purchased a Gary 18 Sailboat, but his first boat was one he and his father built together when he was 4 years old.

Lisa and I enjoyed the opportunity for a little Pacific Northwest cruising aboard our new Helmsman Trawlers 31 Camano while taking her to PassageMaker’s TrawlerFest in Anacortes. This gem is the latest (and the most compact) addition to the line of Helmsman Trawlers. We’ve been working for several years on this project to update and substantially redesign the venerable Camano 31 and were glad for some sea time to “test cruise" the finished product.
Another thing we are committed to at Boatshed is reducing the costs of boat ownership for our customers. Boat buyers will, typically, spend about 20% of the price of a boat on necessary equipment, products and services within the first 12 months of ownership. This expenditure can be considerable and is often overlooked by other brokers.
