Meet John Champion who heads up Boatshed Bristol based at Portishead Quays Marina. If you have a boat to sell or you are looking to buy a boat, meet John and his team at Portishead Quays Marina.
Most of us have been inspired by Roger Taylors adventures on Ming Ming a 21 foot junk rigged Corribee and how he converted the boat to be set up for single handed sailing from the comfort and dryness of his cabin.
The Canal and River Trust have invited canal users in the south to comment on some proposed changes to the maximum stay times at popular visitor mooring sites. A visitor mooring is considered to be a site with some facilities. Sometimes this may just be mooring rings and at other sites there could be a more wide range of boaters’ services.
Boatshed Dartmouth are delighted to offer for sale a lightly used Zodiac Yachtline 480. This is a really smart looking RIB equipped with a fully serviced and maintained Evinrude ETEC (maintenance print outs on file). The boat has been used for light seasonal use only, has never been anti-fouled and kept in dry store when not being used. A great layout with plenty of seating makes this RIB ideal for families. Appointments to view can be booked in advance 5-days a week directly with Paul Singer your Boatshed Dartmouth broker.
Cooking on board is always interesting on our Westerly Konsort, the galley area is not vast, but this is the season that I am going to see just what I can come up with to feed a hungry crew.
Boatshed Dartmouth are delighted to offer for sale an exceptional Sealine 360 Ambassador. This is a truly exceptional boat that has lost all traces of the original Ambassador colours following a full and extensive refit in 2008 that has brought her right up to date. Also installed in 2008 in an immaculate engine bay are twin 270hp Cummins Mercruiser engines with just over 30 hours on each. She is beautifully and tastefully furnished throughout and everything is of the highest standard and quality. If you are looking for a comfortable, near perfectly presented cruiser that you could ‘step on and go’ then this is the boat for you. I’m looking forward to showing you onboard and appointments can be arranged 6-days a week directly with Paul Singer your Boatshed Dartmouth and Boatshed Brixham broker.
February 2013 Edition
Boatshed Dartmouth are delighted to offer for sale a Moody 34. These are really excellent, nice looking centre cockpit yachts with a well laid out interior. The Moody 34 started life in 1983 and continued in production until 1986 with a total of 165 being built. Production then continued as the 346 which had an identical hull. It was clear when I went onboard this yacht that she has been thoughtfully and carefully looked after. Lines are led aft to the cockpit and several items have recently been replaced or updated. Once again I find myself wondering how a 34’ yacht can feel so big. The forward cabin is a good size but it is of course the light and spacious aft cabin that is the yachts greatest asset. Appointments to view can be booked in advance 6-days a week directly with Paul Singer your Boatshed Dartmouth and Boatshed Brixham broker.
It was the end of an era for a familiar west coast boat when she was motored south to take up a new home in the Thames estuary recently.
Boatshed is pleased to be a member of the RNLI Ambassador Scheme. Anyone who buys a boat or sells a boat through us is entitled to one year's complimentary Offshore Membership of the RNLI.
The Boatshed Conference was held in London on 16/01/2013 during the London Boat Show. A full day of announcements, business, discussions were ended with the annual award ceremony for several categories.
My local community boating project has recently bought a new boat. The South West Herts Narrowboat Project provides hire boats to community and youth groups.
Boatshed Brixham and Dartmouth are delighted to offer for sale a Sealine SC38. Stepping onboard I was immediately struck by the amount of wood that Sealine have used throughout the boat. The cockpit is very well laid out with more than enough seating and this is good comfortable seating too. All too often seats seem to be an after thought on boats not really taking into account just how the area will be used. In this case you can sit with friends, talk and watch the BBQ at the same time. The engine bay is easily accessed and stepping down into the engine bay it is really easy to access the major items. The twin 300hp D4 will whip you along at a satisfying 34 knots. As you might imagine for a boat of this age it is immaculate in the engine bay. However, it’s below decks in the main saloon and galley area that really sets this boat apart. The large overhead skylight floods the saloon with light and there are also large rectangular ports to let even more light in. The woodwork below is washed walnut and the cabin doors have that satisfying solid feel to them. In summary I can do not better than quote Motor Boat Monthly whose verdict was –“Sealine's SC series is officially the most exciting thing to happen to sportscruisers in years.” Appointments to view can be booked in advance 6-days a week directly with Paul Singer your Boatshed Dartmouth broker.
Motor Boat Monthly – Sealine F33 Review
International Yacht Brokers Boatshed newport are here to feature this classic boat. She is a 2004 fiberglass sailing yacht designed by Catalina. Come aboard and sample that new boat smell as she has been minimally used with utmost care by her one and only owner.
The Deben Bar is a place I have loved and embraced over the years. I learned to fear, respect and then relish the steep standing waves. Such was my initiation into the world of dinghy sailing. With time, and after a few watery mishaps it became clear that all you had to do was to keep the mast pointing at the sky and steer straight down the face of them. So long as you trusted she would float the boat would do the rest. Fireflies are not fast dinghies, but they have the advantage of providing all the thrills of speed, but going nowhere.
Designed by David Sadler and built by Jeremy Rodgers Ltd, this beautiful second hand yacht has recently been reduced in price. It is probably the most successful one-design cruiser-racer of all time and is seaworthy enough for offshore sailing in extreme weather conditions.
I’ve lived on a boat for 12 years but have never actually been inside a drained lock so I was really excited about this! On Sunday 13th January The Canal and River Trust held an open day so that anyone can go along and see the current work taking place on the Marsworth flight.
We often get asked if any of the owners of yachts for sale with Boatshed Hamble International yacht Brokers would like to make them available for a used boat test, to feature in the “Sailing Today” magazine. Last Friday saw Peter & Michael Delbridge of BSH taking out the “Sailing Today” photographer Rod in the Boatshed Hamble Rib to photograph a lovely Oyster 49 Pilot House that is coming on the market shortly with Boatshed Hamble and will feature in their March issue. On board was Toby Heppell their News and Features Writer as well as the owner.
