Broker's Comments

Boatshed London are delighted to offer this exceptional and historic Thames Sailing Barge for sale with London residential mooring.

This 1926 steel-hulled barge has been extensively restored by the current owner who has known the boat since he was a child and the passion and care for the barge is evident throughout.

She is raced regularly in the Thames Barge regattas and always performs well making her the envy of many other Barge skippers, especially given her steel construction and the obvious benefits of this over the older, wooden versions. This hidden speed was only discovered after 1977 when the barge came out of commercial use and has been privately owned and raced ever since.

However, this is not just a racing barge because as you'll see from the photos, this is also a luxury houseboat and, combined with the Limehouse residential mooring, one of the most desirable on the market right now. With four cabins and a large open plan living area, this is a fantastic place to live and the owner has ensured that the character of such a historic vessel is present throughout.

The Limehouse mooring is fully transferable on payment of a 5% transfer fee (of the sale price) to the marina. Current mooring fees are £16,000 p.a.

The marina has full residential facilities including WiFi, free laundry, pump out, council tax included and is only 5 minutes from Limehouse DLR station giving easy access to the City or Canary Wharf.
